What are Sea Grant "Theme Teams?"
"Theme Teams", representing the research, extension, and communication elements of Sea Grant as well as the National Sea Grant Office and Review Panel, are responsible for:

  1. Coordinating individual Sea Grant program activities within a theme

  2. Identifying new opportunities and new directions for national Sea Grant initiatives and investments.

  3. Catalyzing cooperative efforts between: Sea Grant College Programs, individual programs and the NSGCPO, Sea Grant and NOAA, and Sea Grant and DOC.

  4. Providing opportunities for cooperative ventures with other agencies.

Sea Grant "thematic areas" represent core areas of emphasis and expertise that reside within the national Sea Grant nework programs and affiliated universities. Current thematic areas include.

  • Coastal Natural Hazards
  • Ecosystems and Habitats
  • Education and Human Resources
  • Fisheries
  • Ocean and Coastal Technologies
